Good Manager or Leader

“A good manager can balance his or her reprimands with praise.”

This was a line from the book, The Ten Day MBA, in the Organization Behavior chapter where they talk about how to manage and lead teams.

What makes a good manager and what makes a good leader?

These are two different sets of people. Anyone can be a good manager — however, it takes a different set of characteristics to be a good leader.

Antonio Lucio explains what makes up a leader in his goodbye speech to future marketing leaders at last week’s Brandweek session. Leaders are made up of two parts: a vision and also action. They also lead with their heart and understand that there is strength in vulnerability.

What camp do you fall in? Are you good at telling people what to do or are you leading them with a congruent vision?
