I set a goal this year to run 12 races in 12 months. Knowing that last year was such a challenging year for all, I made it a mission to help others who may be less fortunate than I am. Donating to nonprofits was a way to give back to the community and society and in turn, I am able to also keep up with my health and run the virtual races supporting a cause I believe in. When we get out of this COVID era, I would like to go back to volunteering my time at organizations.

Helping other people besides yourself gives you not only the sense of fulfillment, but a natural inclination to think first about others before yourself — the power of empathy. There is so much the world has to offer, so why not make it a little brighter for someone else. If you believe in karma, there’s that also.
