Incoming and Outgoing
Every leadership position has a transition period, the time where the outgoing leader passes the baton to the incoming, new fresh blood. How does one maximize the use of this time? The outgoing leader maybe feeling the burnout from leading the charge for their term, whereas the incoming person has the new energy to steer the ship in the direction that they want to.
The incoming leader also has a lot on their plate, whether they know this or not. They have to absorb whatever happenings from the previous leader and also decide if they want to steer the ship in the same direction or perhaps go another way because what was happening just didn’t work.
In the transition period, there are definitely adjustments to figure out how to both parties work together. Having an effective transition period will only help the organization thrive as people look for the leaders to guide them through the waters, bridging the old to the new.
