Walking the Fine Line
There are many fine lines we can talk about, but the line we are discussing today is on comparing yourself to others vs. admiring how other people use their talents.
Striving to be someone else because you admire them is normal. As humans, we like to see others as examples of the version we want to become someday. Having a role model is an ideal way to visualize what success means to you, personally. There isn’t a right answer here. Everyone has their own take on what success looks like and what their personal ‘brand’ is.
However, on the flip side of the coin, we also see when people fall into the trap of comparing themselves and become too paralyzed to act. This is a huge trap that society falls into because of the convenience of social media. Scrolling through your Instagram feed and you see all of your friends having these wild, overnight success stories and you can’t help but feel ‘why am I not like that?’ The fear accumulates because of the little voice in your head, and you don’t know how to act.
The main point here is — it is good to have someone in mind that you are striving to become, but also know that you will bring a different ‘flavor’ of what success looks like to you. You can’t forget that. Everyone’s story is so different; you can’t just follow a step-by-step guide and think you are on the road to success. There will be plenty of twists and turns on that road.
